"A mix of campy Noël Coward-esque quips, expert moments on edge-of-your seat tension, and dark questions about paranoia, prejudice, fact, and truth."

Grumpy Gay Critic

Written by POLIS LOIZOU

Starring LAURA LOUISE BAKER, JAACQ HUGO & POLIS LOIZOU

Designed by ELEANOR FIELD

Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Rear WindowBack Door is the story of Tabitha Montgomery (Laura Louise Baker), a fiery British reporter who has recently broken her foot while drunk in Montmartre, and John (Polis Loizou), her American houseboy, who discover that the new neighbour across the courtyard is filmmaker-dancer-performance-artiste Violette (Jaacq Hugo), a gender-bending enigma. When Violette's dance partner dies, Tabitha is convinced that her neighbour had something to do with it, and sets about trying to prove it.

Back Door is ultimately about truth and fiction, person and persona, and the interpretation of art, as Tabitha becomes increasingly obsessed with a person she can’t quite figure out.

"...A large helping of Hitchcock, a fair smattering of Tennessee Williams, a pinch of Kiss of the Spider Woman..."
